COMMUNITY COMMITTEES

The Community Committees listed below are not part of the Village government. They do, however, serve many vital purposes in our community and we are very grateful to have so many dedicated volunteers involved in such an important variety of activities that enhance everyone’s quality of life!

The Aurora Community Gardens was established in 1974 and was bequeathed to the local gardeners by the late Marian Foss Bronson. The four-acre site is located at 619 South Street, on the border of the East Aurora Village in the Town of Aurora. The land is adjacent to Majors Park where local garden members grow their own fruits, vegetables and flowers. Members are provided with a fenced area with full sun, fertile soil, clean water and gardening tools. Plots are offered in two sizes: 6’x6’ and 12’x6’. As a seasonal rental, most members do not have space in their yards and too much shade for a productive home garden. The property is maintained by members and volunteers throughout the growing season. All funds raised are invested in the maintenance and upgrades of the land each year. The East Aurora Beautification Committee and the East Aurora Garden Club work hand in hand to make East Aurora the beautiful place it is with a variety of gardening and plantings along Main Street and at the "famous circle".

The mission of the Aurora Historical Society (AHS) is to collect, preserve and interpret the rich heritage of the Village of East Aurora and Town of Aurora. In addition to museums and historical sites, the Society’s collection includes documents and artifacts. The AHS manages the Millard Fillmore House Museum and the Elbert Hubbard Roycroft Museum providing tours for the educational benefit of everyone.
